hey all. I just started using torrents and wanted to know of some sites that are good to get them from. I have torrentbox.com, thepiratebay.com bushtorrent.com and torrentreacter.net. All other sites are welcomed if anyone knows of any.

torrentspy.com is a goody. also for audio books or applications demonoid.com is great. thing with demonoid is you have to be a member and they limit sign ups.

Of course, Zone BBS does not condone using any of these links for illegal purposes. I'll leave it at that.

BabyGurl: old torrents usually don't work because torrents typically have a short lifespan. This is especially the case on public torrent sites with no upload/download ratio requirements. In order for a torrent to work, there has to be at least one person seeding it (has the torrent window open with a complete copy of what you want to download). Ratio requirements are put in place on private sites to insure that people keep their windows open for a while in order to give people a chance to download. People with low upload/download ratios are often booted from these sites so they have an insentive of sorts to keep their windows open. With public torrent sites, most people grab the data and then hop off the torrent immediately, making for a not-so-long-lasting torrent.

And yes, public torrent sites like torrentspy and mininova should be used very carefully and could possibly contain spyware and bugs.

Anyone else still mourning the loss of oink? :( It was the torrent site to end all torrent sites and it's no more. I'm sure something just as big will eventually come along but it'll be a while.

They're also public and will eventually get your computer fried.
